Anna Marie (Duarte) Erven
Anna Marie Duarte Erven, age 85, of Erie,pa,
passed away Friday, August 12, 2011,
She was born July 30, 1926 in Erie,
the daughter of the late Carl and Anna Grace Duarte. A lifelong Erie resident, Anna Marie loved to ride bicycles in her youth and had won several races on the peninsula. Also as a young child, she learned to knit and crochet and throughout her life, provided her family and friends with beautiful handmade clothing. Anna Marie had worked at the Boston Store and later retired from Erie Technological Products. Following retirement, she would do babysitting for her friends and neighbors, and was especially important to the upbringing of Justin Wood and Danny McMahon. An active member of St. Andrew Catholic Church, Anna Marie belonged to the Women's Guild and loved to attend the church's bingo games. She also was an expert at garage sales, even though she never drove a car. Besides her parents., she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard N. Erven; a daughter, Mary Sharon Erven; and a sister and her husband, Bev and John Paluh. Anna Marie is survived by a son, James Erven and his wife, Lisa, of Erie and a daughter, Karen McGill and her husband, Dennis, of Waterford. She is the sister of Carl Duarte of Erie and is the grandmother of Kelly Masler and her husband, Brian, Brett Erven, Tammie Bryson and her husband, Patrick, Jason Erven, Jaimie Uzelac and her husband, Chris, Ryan Erven and his wife, Christina, and Maggie Erven. Also surviving are 13 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. There will be no visitation. Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. in St. Andrew Catholic Church, 1116 W. 7th St. Private burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may to made to the family. Arrangements by the John J. Quinn Funeral Home, West 9th & Liberty St.
