Isabella County Enterprise 17 Feb 1905 p8c3
Last Friday morning the death of Mr. Ervans occurred very unexpectedly. He had not been feeling well for a few days but no thought of the approaching end was felt and his wife was alone in the house with him when he breathed his last.
Mr. Ervans was born January 21, 1830 in Jefferson Co, New York, and came to Michigan in 1868. He married Maria Persell in the east, in 1856, and she with four children, three sons and a daughter, survives him. A number of years were spent clearing up a farm in Lincoln township, but for 17 years Mr. and Mrs. Ervans have resided on Franklin street in the city.
Mr. Ervans enlisted in Co. A., 10th New York artillery and served three years. He was an enthusiastic G.A.R man.
The funeral was held Monday afternoon from the Methodist church, Rev. Joseph Dutton officiating. The casket draped with the flag and covered with flowers was borne by a company of his old comrades and Wa-bu-no post and relief corps attended the services in a body.
