Thomas Erskine died in 1807 in central Pennsylvania with the name rendered Thomas Askey. Family lore and DAR speculation suggest he may have come from County Antrim and he may have been born in 1727. Facts and fantasy have co-mingled. He was active in his Presbyterian church and we suspect many of his neighboring settlers on the western frontier of backwoods Pennsylvania before and after the Revolutionary War shared a common place of origin in Ireland or Scotland. Any clues?
