Peru — Stanley R. Ero, 63, of the Telegraph Road, Peru, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2004, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh with his loving family by his side, following a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer.
He was born in Plattsburgh on July 23, 1940, the son of Rolla J. and Alice (Blair) Ero.
He was employed with CIL Ammunition of Plattsburgh and most recently for Northern Taxi.
Survivors include his loving wife of 35 years, Beverly (Stranahan) Ero; four sons, Roger Crowningshield of Keeseville, Chris Crowningshield of Peru, Francis Ero of Peru and George Ero of Peru; and one daughter, Mary Ann Ero of Peru. Stanley is also survived by seven sisters and six brothers, Carol and Randy Staley of Peru, Jeane Staley of Peru, Linda Ero of Plattsburgh, Nancy and Robert Sorrell of Chateaugay, Dorothy and Clarence Lester of Paul Smiths, Lillian and John Vaughn of Saranac, Mary and Herb Aubin of Plattsburgh, Donald and Donna Ero of Peru, Roy and Christine Ero of Peru, Dennis and Betsy Ero of Peru, Jerry Ero of Peru, Arden Ero of Plattsburgh and Carl Ero of Peru; five brothers and sisters-in-law, Jeane Stranahan of Keeseville, Dave and Sandy Shively of Pennsylvania, Ronald and Donna Stranahan of Keeseville, George Stranahan Jr. of Keeseville and Debra Stranahan of Keeseville; six grandchildren, Brittany Crowningshield, Nicholas Ero, Alex Ero, Austin Ero, Rebecca Garrow and Dillon David; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated Saturday, March 6, 2004, at 10 a.m. at St. John's Church in Keeseville with Monsignor Leeward J. Poissant, pastor, celebrating. Following the Mass, calling hours will be held at his residence, 369 Telegraph St., in Peru. Burial will be in the parish cemetery in the spring.
Donations in his memory may be made to the family.
