Harvey Erben, loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather was born December 15, 1923 in Clear Springs, Texas, and went to be with the Lord on March 25, 2002.
He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Dona Lou Orndorff Erben, 4 children, Candyce Erben Wagner, Sandra Erben Marquez, Randall Harvey Erben and Andrew Clay Erben; 6 grandchildren, Wendy Wagner Yarbrough, Jill Wagner Novosad, Russell Alden Marquez, Webster Granger Marquez, Christian Bremer Erben, and Emma Bennett Erben; 3 great grandchildren, Garrett Wagner Yarbrough, Wyatt Perkins Yarbrough and Coker William Novosad; 3 brothers, Jesse James Erben, Raymond Charles Erben, Ralph “Pete” Erben; 1 sister, Nellrose Erben Livingston; his aunt, Martha Fischer; daughters-in-law, Amy Heydenreich Erben, Ann Quirk Erben; sister-in-law, Almira Conway;grandsons-in-law, Brian Garrett Yarbrough and Christopher William Novosad; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and countless friends. He graduated from New Braunfels High School in 1941, attended St. Mary’s University and Texas A & M. He served with distinction as a 1st Lieutenant pilot in the Army Air Corps during World War II. From 1955 – 1977, he worked at Fox Photo, Inc., rising from Office Manager-Accountant to Executive Vice President and Corporate Director. Until his retirement he was engaged as partner in Erben Associates, a business acquisition and merger consulting firm. He was active in civic affairs, including Director of the Research and Planning Council of San Antonio, State Director of the Texas Association of Business for three terms, Director of the San Antonio Better Business Bureau and Member of the Downtown Rotary Club of San Antonio. For 15 years, he served on the Baptist Memorial System Board of Trustees, 14 of which were as Chairman of the Board. He also served 3 years as Trustee of the Alamo Heights Independent School District, 2 of which were as President. He was a longstanding member of Trinity Baptist Church, serving on the Board of Deacons as member and chairman.
