Searching for Relatives

Hi!

This is sort of a hobby of mine to try to trace back my ancestry to it's origins in Spain. My Paternal origin leads me to believe that it is Spanish and that it would be somewhere in the Bilbao area as there are a lot of Eraña's there.

There are two Eraña trees in the Philippines as far as I can tell and they are related. The other Erana's I have found were from South America with decendants who did emigrate from Spain.

Looking forward to finding others with the same surname as it seems to be quite limited...

Cheerful Regards,

Michael (Miguel) Eraña

I was born in the Philippines and grew up in Western Canada, and now work and raise my Family in South Jersey/Philadelphia.

Hello... it's also a hobby of mine to trace back through my family history. I was born in the Philippines and moved to Canada when I was about 1 1/2. If you are related to me, please reply because I'm compiling an family tree and I barely have info about the Erañas! Thanx

Hi Clarisse!

Wow! What part of Canada did you move into? I was originally from Calgary. We moved from the Philippines when I was only six and a half.

We moved from Meycauayan, Bulacan and I grew up in Calgary. As far as I know there are only TWO branches of the Eraña Family in the Phillipines. I do have some data on my branch but perhaps you may belong to the other branch. I am also trying to trace back to our original Spanish roots in Spain and have some data on that!

SO Many questions!

Drop me a line back over e-mail and we can begin to compare notes!

Mabuhay!

Miguel

Well, Miguel, I do not know a lot about the Eraña side of the family. I recently misplaced the family history book I had been compiling and I am too busy at the moment to look for it (I'm a high school student) but I do know for sure that my lolo's name was Francisco Eraña. OK well homework calls so I have to go. Bye!

Hi Clarisse,

I sent that info off to my Dad to see if cen can call my Tatay back home and see if he can tell us anything. Do you know what town your folks came from before they came over?

Drop me a line on my hotmail (merana67@hotmail.com) so we can correspond on this some more. Really curious now if you're from the other branch of the family...

I hear you about the homework... I am gonna start taking college classes again and I have a full time day job! It's gonna suck if I have to attend lectures at night (yawn). And the subject will be mentally taxing as well (Microeconomics).

In México there are Eraña´s too.

Hello!
I was curiously in the net and I find this site.
I didn´t know that in Canada and Philippines the Eraña family was present too.
I live in México City and my ancestors came from Vasco Country in Spain.
Only two brothers arrived to México at the end of 19th century. In México Eraña´s
live in cities like Tampico,San Luis Potosi,Distrito Federal and Monterrey.
I would appreciate contact me my e-mail is luisega@bital.com.mx

Ola Luis!

It's nice to hear from you. I think I have also corresponded with member of the other side of your family. I recall corresponding for a time with some one from Mexico as well.

My family line is from the Philippines. I have researched and found a good number of Eraña's in Spain near Bilbao and from what the other Spainiards tell me the surname is quite prevalent in Basque countyside.

Very interested to see if we can put some more names into the family tree! I am hoping to interest someone from Spain in the search!

Look forward to more correspondence!
