In ENGLISH: It is hard to say, but it wouldn´t be strange due to the fact that the Philippines were a part of the Spanish Empire, economically depending from the Viceroyalty of New Spain (until the independence of Mexico in 1821). Heavy basque inmigration (as well as other non-castillians) to other parts of the Empire began probably in the XVII and XVIII centuries. I have notice of the fact that no Erañas emigrated to New Spain during this time, since no records were found in the Casa de Contratación de Sevilla or other spanish colonial authorities. How accurate this information is I cannot be sure, the only known fact to me is that both my great grand father and his brother emigrated to Mexico at the end of the XIX century, and that indeed there are many Erañas in the Basque region.
