Charles Erambert is my 3g-grandfather. He was born in Virginia and went to Texas to fight in 1836-1837. He received at least two bounty land grants for his service. On his way home he stopped in Baton Rouge and met a young widow, Sarah Sheffield Edwards. I have posted quite a bit of data on Charles on my ancestry.com tree. My tree is Lynda_Benton_Family_Tree. After they married, I believe in 1838, they were in New Orleans, Charleston, SC, Fayetteville, NC and then around Gainesville, FL when he died on 1/1/1860. Sarah took her two children by him back to Georgia where she had family. Her two children both married into the Carter family, and many in the family migrated back to Texas (Cass County) including Sarah Sheffield Erambert. I have a picture of her headstone on my record in my family tree. She is buried in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Cass County, Texas. Her children were Margiana Catherine(Kate)Erambert Carter and William H. Erambert. Margiana is my 2g-grandmother and my own grandmother Margie Anna Carter (1904-1981) was born in adjacent Marion County,TX and named for Margiana C. Erambert Carter. Kate, as she was also known was married to John Thomas Solomon Carter, whose grave is also in Mt. Zion Cemetery. I haven't found Kate's grave yet. John's brother James S. Carter and his wife are also both buried at Mt. Zion, so I suspect Kate would have been also. However, she isn't listed on the names of those buried there. Charles Erambert (b. 1818) is reported to be buried in Gainesville, FL. Which is really so very ironic, when it turns out that is the very place I was born!! Anyone who wants to know more about Charles or Sarah, let me know. I am a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution based on my lineage from them and through Sarah's grandfather, Robert Sheffield who served in the navy during the Am. Revolution.
