Eperson - Canada - during the last 100 years
Does anyone have information on the Eperson name in Canada? My G aunt Minnie Newbury (b 1871 Loughborough, England) married, so I am told, James Eperson . At some stage in the early 1900s they emigrated to Canada. There were at least two sons Walter and Edwin. Both were in the forces in WWII and stationed at some stage in Britain (when my father and other family members met them). I have copies of a few photos of them, ranging from about mid 1920s to mid 1940s. Possibly the latest of these is one of Edwin Eperson (Lieutenant, RCASC) receiving his MC from 'Monty' in 1945. I think there was another brother and a sister. I am not sure which part of Canada they lived in. In anticipation, many thanks. David Harrison, Merseyside, UK.

David
I think that I may be able to help with your query on the Epersons in Canada.
Henry born:1875 = Newbury (1908) | ----------------------------------------------------------------- | | | | Edwin born:1908 Herbert born:19?? Edith born:19?? Walter born:1919, died:1993 = Green (1945) | Janet (1949)
One of Henry Eperson's younger brothers was Luther Eperson (born:1887, died:1953) - my grandfather.
I don't have any other details on Edwin, Herbert or Edith so if you can fill in any details on these I'd be grateful.
We were in regular touch with Walter and do have addresses for Janet and her mother - both living in Montreal.
I do have a reasonably full Eperson family tree otherwise - if you are interested in Henry's father, grandfather, brothers, sisters, etc.
Regards
Ian Eperson

Re: Eperson - Canada - during the last 100 years
Ian,
Thank you for your reply, which I have only just come across. I actually had the phone number and spoke to them both a few years ago. Unfortunately I mislaid the number (and address) and had not been able to locate it since.
We have a few photos over here of Edwin and Walter, some (all?) were in the possession of my cousin Joyce. One is of Ted receiving his MC in WWII.
Two of the Newbury sisters married two of the Harrison brothers - Lillian Newbury and Thomas George Harrison were my grandparents. I believe some of the Newbury brothers also went out to Canada at the same time.
I shall have another check through what information I have on Newbury/Eperson, but, unfortunately, it is a bit sketchy.
Dave.
p.s. I have just realised that I need to update my e-mail address with ancestry, so I get notification of a reply. This is how I have missed your reply.

Re: Eperson - Canada - during the last 100 years
Hey there.
I have some small regarding Captain Edwin Eperson MC. He was a Captain serving in Europe, his home address at the time was 81 Murray Ave., Greenfield Park, Quebec. I know this because I have an old address book of officers in the RCASC that belong to my grandfather Captain Thomas Chandler who was in the same army as Edwin was.

Re: Eperson - Canada - during the last 100 years
Tom,
Thanks for taking the time to reply. We have a photo of Edwin receiving his MC. Walter, his brother, was also stationed over here (Britain) and married a girl from Leicester. I had spoken to her on the phone a few years back but, as I said in another entry, I then managed to lose the contact details. I shall have a look on googlemaps to see if Murray Ave is still there.
Kind regards,
Dave.
