My family are farmers, my father now lives in Elgin, Ore. I know that my great or gerat, great grandfather grew up on a farm in Washington. And later moved with his wife and childern to eastern Ore. Where during the winter he hung himself in the barn our so the story goes. All I was wondering if any one has any childeren with ganetic birthdefects. I have two.

I would suggest that you contact William Dunn
in Aloha, OR. He has a tremendous amount of
information on the Eoffs that came to Oregon
via wagon train in the late 1840s.

Hi Alice:
First of all, I would refer you to Bill and Roberta Dunn who got me started on the Eoff family. They live in Aloha, Oregon and have a great deal of information on your family. He has an e-mail address, but I can not find it right now.
What I have in my computer is that Keith Eoff was born in Independence, OR in 1923. His parents were Henry T. Eoff and Margaret Edge. Henry was born in Chehalis, WA 7 Oct 1876 and Margaret, abt 1886. His parents were James Eoff, born 7 Jan 1845 in Burlington, IA and Mary Ellen Waterbury, born 18 Feb 1852/1853 in Oregon City, OR.
Jame's parents were John Lenoard Eoff, born 2 Jul 1812 in Pulaski county, KY and Mary Ann Roughton, born 28 Dec 1816 in Lincoln county, KY. John came to Oregon in 1847 starting from Independence, MO.
Hope I have helped.
Have fun and keep in touch. I would like to have your family's information as I do not even have your mother's data nor your sibling's information. I live in Nampa, Idaho and would be happy to send you whatever information you would want. Just let me know.
Regards,
Al

Robert ‘Keith’ Eoff

Formerly of Elgin

1921-2013

Graveside services for Robert “Keith” Eoff will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Highland Cemetery in Elgin.

Eoff died May 1 in Nampa, Idaho.

Robert was born May 4, 1921, at Independence, the son of Henry and Margaret (Edge) Eoff. He was the oldest of three boys.

He spent his younger years on a hop farm in Independence and attended grade school at the little red schoolhouse. When he was older, he would ride his bicycle from Independence to Portland and delivered papers before there were sidewalks. He attended and graduated from Benson High School in Portland. During that time, he was a troubleshooter for International Tractor. He could time an engine by ear.

After graduation from high school, he purchased a 450-acre dairy farm (Cedar Brook Dairy) in the Willamette Valley at Sherwood. In addition to farming, he worked as a logger for Johnson & Page Logging for several years and as a welder at the shipyards in Portland.

In September 1944, he married Marjorie Krause of Sherwood. To this union came 14 kids among which were two sets of twins. Later, he married Jill Spofford of Minnesota to which three more children were born.

He enjoyed baseball, basketball, polka and Vienna waltzes and his little dogs.

In 1971, he moved to Elgin and settled on Cricket Flat. He enjoyed fishing trips to Alaska and hunting in the Wallowa Mountains.

He is survived by his kids, Billy (Sue) Eoff of New Mexico, Margaret Powers of Elgin, Russell Keith (Karen) Eoff of La Grande, Jeanne (Jim) Hascall of Dayton, Jimmy (Michelle) Eoff of Missouri, Bobby Eoff of Elgin, Alice “May” (Neal) Williams of Nampa, Idaho, Hazel (Melvin) Falk of American Falls, Idaho, Henry Eoff of Pendleton, Rose (Donald) Eoff of Stayton, Carl Eoff of Minnesota, Nancy (Glenn) Taft of Minnesota and Richard (Shannon) Eoff of Minnesota.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Russell and George; three of his children; his wife, Marjorie; a grandson; and his special friend, Jill Spofford of Minnesota.

Arrangements are being provided by Zeyer Funeral Chapel, Nampa, Idaho.
