Here's the story on why Enroughty/Darby name, from "Henrico County Field of Honor", pg 440: "Enroughty was actually pronounced, "Darby" by family members... Acording to family tradition, in the middle of the 18th century, the ancient and honorable Enroughty family of England had fallon on hard financial times. Forty years earlier, the family had ostracized one of their own for marrying a commoner "in trade". Young Magdalene Enroughty had married a man by the name of Derby (pronounced Darby). During his lifetime, as the Enroughty family fortune diminished, Derby's wealth increased to a sizable amount. When Derby died childless and a widower, he left his money to the Enroughty family on the condition that they change their name to Derby. At a family meeting of the Enroughtys, one member suggested that they keep spelling the family name Enroughty and just pronouce it, 'Darby'."
