Information re John Enochs, son of Henry, Sr. and Elizabeth Ross
Henry, Sr. Enochs -- From "Tyler's Quarterly Historical and Genealogical Magazine" Vol. IV 1923 - The Enoch (Enochs Family
Kathy, I will send you PDF of information I've copied into my genealogy re Henry, Sr. and Elizabeth.
Enoch Enochs is the direct ancestor I followed. Enoch is son of Henry, Sr. and Elizabeth and a brother to John.
There is a reference to John on page 442;
"... and John Enochs also did service on the frontier. Crumrine in his history of Washington County, Pennsylvania mentioned a Col. John Enochs who lived near the present village of Clarksville and was a brother of David Enochs. On August 20, 1778,. Isaac Cox, David Enochs, and Henry Enochs were recommended as fit persons to be added to Commission of Peach of Yohogania County."
I also relied heavily on "The Archer History Book" written by Martin B. Archer on the Enochs and Archers.
Also, "History of Noble County, Ohio" portraits and biographial sketches of some of its prominent men.
Good luck!
Barbara
