MANSFIELD: Elisabeth Steger, 91, formerly of Mansfield, Ohio, died Monday, February 27, 2012 at Liberty Residence II in Wadsworth, Ohio.

Born August 20, 1920 in Yugoslavia, she was the daughter of Heinrich and Karoline (Phillippi) Enis.

She came to the United States in 1956 from Germany and retired from Mansfield General Hospital as an LPN in the nursery after 28 years of service.
She was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church on Middle Bellville Road.
Mrs. Steger enjoyed gardening, baking and cooking for family events and was an excellent seamstress, even fixing clothing at age 90. She was the glue of the family, keeping everyone together.

Surviving are her children, Reinhardt "Ron" (Laurie) Steger, Karoline (Terry) Tucker, Brigitte (Robert) Haff and Heinrich "Henry" (Pam) Steger; grandchildren, Michelle Wright, Terry (Jessica) Haff, Sarah (Mark) Blair, Shawna (Quinn) Chandler, Julie (Mike) Gromofsky, Tim (Swayla) Haff, Carin (Matt) Kaag, Lisa Tucker, Matthew (Liz) Steger, Kaila Steger and Rachel Steger; 15 great grandchildren; a sister, Lena Schneider; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Anton Steger, whom she married in 1944; a daughter, Erika Steger; a sister, Carol Allan of Canada; and a brother, Jakob Enis of Germany.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday, March 2, 2012 at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond Street, Mansfield conducted by Marc Contrascere and Erwin Webel.
Burial will follow in Mansfield Cemetery.
