Pearl R. Enck
MIDDLEFIELD — Mrs. Pearl R. Enck, formerly of Otego, passed away Thursday, Dec. 24, 1998, in M.I. Bassett Hospital after a brief illness.
She was born the daughter of Clayton and Anna (Darling) Ritton, April 9, 1913. She married Frederick F. Enck Sr. on April 8, 1944, in Maryland. Fred predeceased her on April 12, 1969.
Pearl worked many years at Scintilla-Bendix until her retirement. In her younger years she worked supplying homemade pies for the Rex Restaurant in Oneonta. This skill stayed with her all of her life and made every holiday with her a special treat. Pearl was known by all for her special sense of humor and feisty attitude that stayed with her even through her brief stay at The Meadows.
Pearl was especially proud of her four sons and is survived by Malcolm C. Ross from Big Pine Key, Fla., Frederick F. Enck Jr., and his wife, Barbara, from Otego, Gary C. Enck and his wife, Laurie, from Oneonta, and Mahlon H. Enck and his wife, Amalia, from Carrollton, Ga. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Bruce, Brian, Barry, Stephanie, Christopher, Jonathan and Jeni Enck; her great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.
She was predeceased by a brother, Harold Ritton, and a sister, Ethel (Ritton) Shaul.
Funeral and committal services will be held on Sunday, Dec. 27, 1998, at 2 p.m., at the Bookhout Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oneonta, with the Rev. Alan C. Hatch of the Otego Baptist Church, officiating. Pearl will be placed in the Bookhout Funeral Home private vault to await burial in the spring in the Evergreen Cemetery, Otego.
There will be no calling hours.
