The Mass of the Resurrection for Casimiro Encinias, 79, of Portales, will be celebrated at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, January 23, 2013, at St. Helen Catholic Church with Fr. James McGowan as celebrant. Burial will follow in the Portales Cemetery with Ray Encinias, Anthony Encinias, Alfredo Encinias, Thomas Encinias, Brad Encinias, Christopher Ortiz, Nick Reppe, Darian Whiting, and Matthew Encinias serving as pallbearers. Tommy Salazar, Larris Gallegos, Margarito Garcia, Bobby Baca, Sammy Salazar, and all of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren will be honorary pallbearers. The Rosary will be recited at 7:00 PM, Tuesday, January 22, 2013, at St. Helen Catholic Church.
Casimiro Encinias, known to his family and friends as "Casey", was born August 6, 1933, in Sena, New Mexico to the home of Luisa and Merejillido Encinias and died January 18, 2013, at his home in Portales.
Casey grew up at Lovato, and was married to Equipulita Salazar on January 2, 1956, in Villanueva, New Mexico. He and Skippy moved their family to Portales in 1960. Casey worked first at Worley Mills. Later he began welding and worked at Eastern Welding and finally at A&M until he became disabled and had to quit. He had been in poor health for the past several years.
He was a member of St. Helen Catholic Church and the Portales Senior Citizens. He loved music, and played the guitar, violin, piano, and organ, but his favorite was the accordion. He often got together with friends to play, and played for lots of senior citizens dances.
He is survived by Skppy, his wife of 57 years; four sons and three daughters-in-law, David Encinias, Phillip and Gloria Encinias and Paul and Josie Encinias all of Portales and Faustin and Lydia Encinias of Clovis; four daughters and sons-in-law, Antonia and Stephen Schaubroeck of Russellville, Arkansas, Helen and Steven Gonzales of Portales, Luann and Joe Harragan of Gurnee, Illoinis, and Terry and Andy Ortiz of Edgewood, New Mexico; 31 grandchildren; 78 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren; seven brothers, Gabriel Martinez of Clovis, Gilbert Martinez of Grants, New Mexico, Horacio Gonzales, Roger Gonzales, Melton Gonzales, and Arturo Gonzales all of Albuquerque and Ferin Gonzales of Poquaque, New Mexico; and three sisters, Toni Gallegos of Lovato, New Mexico, Eliza of Santa Fe, New Mexico and Dulcinea of Amarillo, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Eddie Encinias and a sister, Maria Sena.
