A rosary will be recited Tuesday evening at 7:00 p.m. from Our Lady of Sorrows Church for 82 year old Ascencion Encinias, a resident of Las Vegas who passed away Thursday, Apr 20, 2006, at Alta Vista Regional Hospital following an extended illness. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday morning at 9:00 a.m. from Our Lady of Sorrows Church. The interment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. in St. Francis Chapel at Gonzales Funerals & Cremations.He was preceded in death by his parents, Manuel and Isabelita Gomez Encinias.He is survived by his wife Alicia of Las Vegas; one daughter, Gloria Martinez of Richmond, CA; three sons, Louie and Rudy Encinias both of Las Vegas and Leroy Encinias and his wife Janet of San Jose, CA , half sisters, Esther Lucero of Ojitos Frios, NM and Tillie Benavidez of Santa Fe, NM; and two half brothers, Santiago Encinias and Narciso Encinias and wife Tina all of Las Vegas; ten grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter.
He was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Church and was born in San Geronimo, NM on June 13, 1923.. He married Alicia Mares on December 28, 1942 in Las Vegas, a relationship that lasted sixty-three years. He was a World War II veteran having served in the U. S. Army. After he was honorably discharged from the service he was a machine operator for the C & H Refinery in California for 40 years. Mr. Encinias and his wife Alicia moved her in 1989 from Rodeo, California. He was a member of the Guadalupana Society in California and was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Church.
