Classification: Marriage
Surnames: Elmslie,Webber, Reynolds
Caroline Reynolds mother was Mary Eliza (Eliza Mary ) Lloyd Elmslie who was born to Adam Wallace Elmslie Sr and Sarah Anne (Lloyd) Elmslie in London in 1810 and baptized in Marylebone Parish. See attached file.
Caroline's father was William Reynolds whom Eliza married in the USA sometime between August 1839 and 1841 when her son William Edward Defontenay Reynolds was born.
My Great Great Grandparents George and Emily Blatch of St. John,New Brunswick,Canada fired Miss E. Elmslie in August 1839 as a teacher for their school. Emily had hired her that May while in London.Miss Elmslie had recently returned from living in China with her younger brother,Civil Servant Edward.
I've found no marriage record nor birth records. Eliza Mary Lloyd (Elmslie) Reynolds died in Sept 1900,aged 90, in Christchurch,New Zealand.Son William also died there in 1924 aged 83.
Eliza (Elmslie) Reynolds' younger brother Arthur Cruickshank Elmslie established himself in New Zealand, In Dec 1833 he married near Picton. In 1893 he died without issue on his farm near Nelson, Marborough Sound,South Island, New Zealand. His property was left to his business partners the Webber and Sunderland families.
Caroline Reynolds, his 20 yr old niece, drowned near Nelson in 1871 along with her husband-to-be from this same Webber family.
