Franklin D. Emigh, 81, of Applewold,
died Tuesday, March 31, 2015, at home following a lengthy illness, surrounded by his loved ones. He was a native of Armstrong County, born May 10, 1933, in Kittanning, the son of the late Oscar Bejamin Emigh and Alice Claretta "Reda" (Dailey) Emigh and the husband of the late Vivian Edna (Bowser) Emigh. Mr. Emigh attended Kittanning High School, late obtaining a diploma. He later obtained a degree in administration from the University of Pittsburgh. He retired with 20 years service from the Air Force and also retired from the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry Employment Service. He was a member of the Kittanning Elks, Eagles, Moose and VFW. His hobby was family genealogy. He compiled a book of history of his family dating back to 1609 in Germany. The progenitor of the family was Nicholas Emigh, who immigrated to New York in 1710. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by three half-brothers, James Wallace Emigh, Donald Joseph Emigh and Francis Allen Emigh; two half-sisters, Mary Twila Emigh and Anna Margaret Emigh Goodyear; four brothers, Oscar Junior Emigh, Clair Emigh, Robert George Emigh and Samuel Karl Emigh; three sisters, Hazel Marie Emigh, Betty Lena Waugaman and Geraldine Elizabeth Myers; and one grandson, Tyler Roberto Emigh. Surviving are his sons, Franklin D. (Jackie) Emigh Jr., of Kittanning Township, and Randell Joseph (Rebecca) Emigh, of Iowa Park, Texas; daughters, Rita B. Emigh, of Vandergrift, and Ruth I. (Keith) Schrecengost, of Kittanning; grandchildren, Kristina Lynn (William) Clark, April Sunshine (Marc) Perella, Kyle "Double Play" (Britney) Emigh, Ryan Joseph Emigh, Mallory Rose Emigh, Brooke Altyn Emigh, Alan Joseph "A.J." Moore, Jake Harley Moore and Torri Louise Rosol; stepgrandchildren, Julie Ann Payne, Seth Aaron Payne and Mark Allen Payne; great-grandchildren, Olivia Jade, Owen Xavier Clark, Kenadec Peyton and baby boy Emigh, Ariana Skye and Landyn Marc Perella, Jackson Wade Emigh, Alexis Capri Bramble and Meredith Elise Ready; brother, William J. Emigh, of Cadogan/Slate Lick; half-brother, Raymond M. Rosenberger, of Kittanning; sisters, Patricia Juanita (Stanley) Shirey, of Michigan, and Barbara Mae Cloak, of Kittanning; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his long, endearing friend and companion, Martha L. Dill Denardo. In lieu of flowers, Frank has requested donations be made to the American Lung Association, 810 River Ave., Suite 140, Pittsburgh, PA 15212. Family will receive friends from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday April 3, 2015, in the KENNEDY and BLODGETT FUNERAL HOME, Kittanning, and from 10 a.m. until time of services at 11 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home with the Rev. Wayne Sawyer officiating. Burial will be in Kittanning Cemetery.
