Roy M. Emick, a lifelong Scranton resident, died Monday morning in the VNA Hospice Inpatient Unit at Community Medical Center. His wife of 54 years is the former Maybert Walker.
Born in Scranton, son of the late Jacob S. and Erna Henkelman Emick, he was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School and an Army veteran of World War II. He was member of Hickory Street Presbyterian Church and the Independent Order of the Odd Fellows. Before retirement, he was employed for 47 years by American Telephone and Telegraph (AT&T).
Also surviving are a daughter, Barbara Jones, Scranton; a son, Gerald, Charleston, S.C.; a sister, Norma Schroeder, Pittsburgh; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
The funeral will be Thursday at 11 a.m. in the Miller Bean Funeral Home Inc., 436 Cedar Ave., with services by the Rev. Tom H. Collins, pastor, Hickory Street Presbyterian Church. Interment, Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst.
