Classification: Query
Surnames: EMERICK EMERICH EMRICH EMRICK EMRY EMREY EMERY EMMERICK EMMERICH
As a result of researching my Emerick ancestors, I have concluded based on documentary evidence, the some of the 18th century immigrants to North America who used some version of the Emerick surname may have been related.
Known immigrants are:
Johann Michael Emerich, married Elizabeth Krantz, settled lastly in Berks County, Pennsylvania
Johann Georg Emmerich, married Elizabeth Haas, settled in Chester County, Pennsylvania, surname evolved to Emery.
Johann Anthoni Emerick, married Maria Margretha Braunin, settled in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania
Jonas (John) Emrich, married Anna Margretha Rinehart, settled in Washington County, Maryland.
Johannes Emmerich, married Anna Margretha DePes, settled in Ulster County, New York
Johann Jakob Emerich, Maria Elizabeth Weber, settled in Ohio
Conrad Emrich, married [?] Wolf, settled Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania, surname evolved to Emery
George (Emrich) Emig, married Maryline [?], settled in Bucks County, Pennsylvania.
Herman Emerich, married Hannah Bral, settled in Berks County, Pennsylvania.
Jacob Emerich; married Elizabeth Beck, settled in Northampton County, Pennslyvania
John Andrew Emrich, married Mary Magdalena [?], settled in Bucks County, Pennsylvania.
Sebastian Emerich, married Anna Maria [?], settled in Berks County, Pennsylvania.
Sirach Emrich, married Margaret [?], settled in Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania.
Jacob Emerick, married Catharine Wentzel, settled in Loudoun County, Virginia
Johan Nicholas Emmerich, married Dorothea Michaelis, settled in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania
This list is not intended to be comprehensive, if I left someone out, please excuse the omission.
The Emerick yDNA Project has been established at Family Tree DNA FTDNA. The primary purpose of the project is to establish the genetic pedigrees of these immigrants specifically, and in general, all families with any version of the Emerick surname.
FTDNA has once again made six gift certificates available to be applied to the cost of testing. If you wish to take advantage of this offer, please write to me at msvnhrn@jps.net, for instructions on how to use the offer. DO NOT REGISTER WITHOUT CONSULTING ME. I will award the gift certificates on a first come, first serve basis.
Disclaimer: As the volunteer manager of the Emerick yDNA Project, I receive no compensation or other benefits from FTDNA. The time I spend analyzing test results and helping project members with their research, I contribute without compensation of any kind.
