Allison,

My grandfather was Benedetto Emanuele and my dad was Joseph Emanuele. I am an only child. Have family still there in the Bronx. Do have a cousin named Ben not sure if that is who you are looking for. Please message me via Email with more details and I will try to help.

Thanks
Ben

Ben:

If your grandfather was Carmelo Emanuele, he was *probably* my grandfather's brother. Luigi Emanuele used to live in Bronx, NY until he died several years ago. Luigi had four children: Giacchichimo (Jack, my father, who Americanized the family name to Emanuel during WWII- deceased; Theresa Maria (married Charles Tripodo - both deceased); Maria Teresa (married Carl Calandra - both deceased and Benedetta - married Frank Schifano). Aunt Bess is the only surviving of the original four (or possibly five; my father said he had an adopted brother whilst living in the Bronx, who was killed on the USS Arizona at Pearl Harbor) siblings. The family lived in Bronx County, NYC (except for my father and Aunt Benedetto - "Bess" who moved to Queens County; Aunt Bess is living in Jericho, NY - Nassau County)

I lived in the Bronx and my grandfather's name was Santo Emanuele; married to Nicola LaPorta, who died in 1938. He died in 1959 and was married in St Raymond's cemetery in the Bronx. He had five daughters, Michelina (my mother; called Peggy), Salvatrice (who lived in the Bronx) and Santina (Bronx), Felicina (Long Island) and Maria who died at age 8 from an apartment fire. They lived in New York City until their mother died in 1938. I believe he came from Palermo Sicily. All my family members are dead so I know nothing about my heritage.

I am looking for a Frank Schifano who served in the Army in World War II. I am documenting my father's photos and have a photo of Frank. He appears to be about 5' 11" tall, with medium dark hair, eyeglasses and no wedding band. The picture may have been taken in 1944. There are 5 men in the picture, my dad Robert Kubiak, Leo or Lew Koehler, "Duke" Vandemark, and one listed only as Handsome Jerry. No one has any rank on their uniforms. If you'd like a copy, my e-mail is blacklabrador96@verizon.net.

Hi, My ggrandfather was Carmelo Emanuele married to Maria D'Agostino both from Sicily- San Fratello. Carmelo's brother was Luigi-I know nothing about him, except he was born about 1885- other brother was Benedetto, and sister- Maria. Same family?
