Hi!

Looking for information on the ancestors/descendants of Jan Emans (d. 1732) who married Neeltje (Elinor) Van Aken.

One known issue: Neeltje (Elinor) Emans (b. 3 Oct 1725 and christened 19 May 1728 Kingston, Ulster Cty, NY / married George Moden (b.1715) / d after 1755 in Northampton, PA) Her line is mostly covered, but would love to know if she had siblings.

After his death, his widow remarried Edward Robeson.

Looking to put some leaves on the family tree. Any help appreciated. Please post here or e-mail me at lili.stpt@hotmail.com

Thanks,

Lili Kennedy

Neeltje Van Aken is the daughter of Marinus Van Aken and his second wife Pieternelle Du Pre Van Wingen. They had four boys and four girls. They were born in Kingston, Ulster, New York. The children are: Pieter(b.1685), Sara(b.1688), Cornelis(b. 25 May 1690), Catrina(b.16 Oct 1692), Rachel(b.1695), Neeltje(b.11 Sep 1697), Abraham(b.29 Oct 1699), and Isaak(b.1702). Neeltje is the Dutch diminutive form of Cornelia. I do not where you got the idea that Neeltje name could actually be Elinor. Marinus never had a daughter name Elinor. Jan Emans and Neeltje Van Aken do have a daughter named Elinor. Jan Emans and Neeltje Van Aken are my 7th great grandparents.

I recently came across the will of John/Jan Emans husband of Elinor (Van Aken) and father of Nicholas, Rachel, Elinor and Catherine in the Calendar of New Jersey Wills Volume II 1730-1750. They lived in Wallpack Hunterdon Co. (now Sussex), New Jersey when John/Jan Emans died. The will was witnessed and signed in 1732. Proved on May 17, 1732. Inventory was on JUN 22, 1732. 1758, Oct 9 Account of Edward Robeson and Elinor, his wife, late Elinor Emans, executrix of will of John Emans. Nicholas Emans was also the Executor along with Elinor. I think the Nicholas Emans named as co executor was not his son. Jan's son Nicholas woud have been at least 6 years old at his father's death.

I'm a descendant of Jan's father Jan through his son
Jacobus. I have Jan as being married lst to Angelica
Van Cleff and then Neeltje Van Aiken. I show his children
all together as John, Ester, Sara (who married Benjamin
Stymets), Neeltje, Samy, Thomas & Johanna.
