I'm seeking information on the burial site of George B. Ely. I have found him to be in Callahan County when he applied for a Texas Confederate pension (#A-51440).

Any information on his burial site would be welcome. He is being considered for inclusion in the second volume of _Texas Burial Sites of Civil War Notables_.

This was my grandfather, and I was a pallbearer at his funeral in 1940. ( I was only 18 years old at the time). The cemetary as I recollect is just south of Clyde, My grandfather and grandmother and one of their children (Charles) are in the family plot. Rev. Ely was a founder of the Clyde Baptist church. You may find grandfather's progeny all over this part of Texas

Thank you for that information. I did find George B. Ely's grave in the cemetery on the south edge of Clyde just after Christmas. I've photographed it and written it up and it will be the second volume of of the book.

It's for the second volume of _Texas Burial Sites of Civil War Notables: A Biographical and Pictorial Field Guide_. I've take over for one of the authors of the first volume who dropped out.

He is being include because of the long chapter he wrote for _Pioneer Days in the Southwest_ when it was published in 1909. We are looking in this volume in post-Civil war acomplishments on one is writing a book are article about the war or early Texas. He also started the first Telephone company in Odessa.

I have a copy of the Pioneer Days book of which you speak.. George B. Ely wrote Chapter 13, which includes his picture. Wonder which author is working with you on the Civil War books. By the way, Geo. B. Ely and members of his family also worked for the railroad in Odessa about this time,

The current author team for TBSCWN volume 2 is Jim Mundie, John Lucky, Dean Letzring and my self. Bruce Alldardice was on the first volume and I took his place. Jim Mundie had been for many years a book dealer specializing in Civil War and Western history books.

Your associates surely must be aware of the works of my cousins J.W.Williams (The Big Ranch Country & Old Texas Trails) and his brother Robert H. Williams. (Joyful Trek). I think I found my copies at Texas Tech and the Aikin Press some time ago,
