Hello. I am researching the Elverd name also. My mother was an Elverd. Her name was Sylvia June. Her dad was James Elverd born 1898, his father was James born in 1850. I have so many conflicting reports and census materials that I am at a standstill. It has always been said that our branch came from Ireland. But I can't find the proof. I know on all the census material that I have found, it says Northern Ireland. My great grandpa James had a brother named Patrick who married an Ellen McGarvey whose parents were also born in Northern Ireland. If you have any information that may be helpful, it would be greatly appreciated. I have only found the following records on his marriage.
Breck County marriage bonds Rec. Vol. 2 - November 4, 1880 - James Elverd, 26, blacksmith, b. Louisville, Jefferson County, Kentucky, (father, birthplace blank, mother b. Breckinridge County), to Annie M. Ellmore, 21 (as of August 2, 1881) (father b. North Carolina, , mother b. Kentucky); Patrick Goff, bondsman; consent by A.J. Ellmore for his daughter, witnessed by Patrick Goff and Henry J. Ellmore; to be married November 4, 1880 at the residence of A.J. Elmore. 16 April, 1883 - John Bruff, 54, farmer, b. Dolphin County, Pennsylvania, 2nd marriage (father and mother b. Dolphin County, Pennsylvania) to Rachel Burnett, 45, b. Grayson County, Ky, 2nd marriage (father and mother b. Grayson County) James F. Overton, bondsman; married 16 April 1883 at residence James F. Overton, by G.W. Carwile, J.P.B.C. in presence A.J. Elmore and James Elverd. 24 April, 1883 - Henry Jackson Elmore, 21, farmer, b. Cloverport Ky (father b. Virginia and mother b. Breckinridge County) to Margarett Burnett, 15, b. Grayson County KY (father and mother b. Grayson County) James Overton, bondsman; married 24 April 1883 at residence A.J. Elmore, by G.W. Bruff, J.P.B.C. in presence James Elverd and John Bruff. Consent by brides parents.

From what I can tell on the England census', there was a James and John and Patrick all in Nailsea born around the same time as my relatives, but I can't seem to connect them to my family.

Thanks for all your help.
