Freddie L. Elsby, 53, of Mansfield, Ohio died Tuesday, December 8, 2009 at MedCentral Mansfield Hospital.

Born September 7, 1956 in Macon, Georgia, he was the son of Willie Elsby and Johnnie Mae Cotton.

He worked for 33 years at Graham Chevrolet where he had been very dedicated to his career. He loved spending time with his wife, Patricia, and had also enjoyed fishing, and taking long drives in the country. Freddie also enjoyed sitting by a stream and spending time outdoors. He loved to cook and watch television, especially Animal Planet. Freddie loved spending time with his buddies at The Old Garage Saloon.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia; daughters, Kizzy Elsby Kershner, and Tawanda M. Patton, all of Mansfield, Ohio; son, Kiley E. Kershner of Mansfield; grandchildren, Kevin "KJ" McDowell, Kiley Elsby Kershner, Kyron Kershner, and Allyah Marie Griffith; brother, Willie Evans of Cleveland, Ohio; sisters, Fannie Jennings of Mansfield, Ohio, Kamia Grant of Cleveland, Ohio; Siete Cochran of Mansfield, Mimaco Grant of Mansfield, and Cheekie Grant of Cleveland, Ohio; aunt, Minnie Mae Johnson of North Carolina; uncles, John Henry Cotton of North Carolina, Charles Dewitt Cotton of Mansfield,Ohio; and Gen Autrey Brye of Georgia; host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, and great friends; and special friends, Lloyd and Debbie Zornes, and Arnell and Charlie. He was preceded in death by his father, Willie Elsby; mother, Johnny Mae Cotton; grandmother, Minnie Mae Cotton; great-grandmother, Effie Sykes; and great-grandfather, John Cotton.

Friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. Monday, December 14, 2009 at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond Street, Mansfield, Ohio.
Funeral services will follow at 6 p.m. at the funeral home conducted by Rev. Don Cairns.
