Roy Elphick, son of Thomas Jr. and grandson of Thomas Elphick Sr., was married to my grandmother and I have many cousins stemming from that relationship. I have a little info on Thomas Sr., but my history stops with him. Here’s what I have:

Born about 1822 in Hastings, Sussex, England

He departed from London on the Westminster and arrived in New York on July 17, 1839. Family records and the 1900 Census says he arrived alone, but a James Elphick also arrived in NY in 1839 and James is the name of Thomas’ first son...so this one maybe his father? We don’t know his father’s name, but rumor in the family is that is was Richard.

He married Sarah Brown in 1843 in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Lived in Suisun, Solano County, California in 1868-1876

By 1896, he lived in Penngrove, CA. He was a poultryman (everyone in that area was!). He was 5’7”, light complexed, blue eyes, gray hair.

Died in 1902 in Penngrove, Sonoma County, CA.

My grandmother met Roy while she was living in this area also, they married and eventually moved up to Covelo, Mendocino County, CA where they are both buried.

I tried to find more info on Thomas Sr, but just wasn’t sure what his father’s name was. Any additional information you have would be greatly appreciated!
