Just trying to track down any information on my great grandfather.
All i know is that he spent some time in Toronto, Canada working as a Russian translator some time between 1914 and 1920. He had a son (Don Boag - b. abt. 1918- ) with Marie Boag (1891-1985 b. Westmorland, England) and apparently, wasn't heard from again... or so the legend goes.
His first name is meant to be Karl and the surname seems to ELNITSKY possibly ELINSKY.
I've hit a total dead-end on my side.
Can anyone help with any information about the surname even? What region, background or culture it might come from? The assumption has been Russian or Ukranian, but any help would be welcome!
Many thanks,
Mike
