Surnames: Elkin, Elkins, Borders, Driver
My husbands grandfather came from Va in about 1842. Our first time to find him was in Williamson county in 1863. He served in the Civil War, married Mary Jane Borders in 1863 in Williamson County,Texas up to Bell county, Texas about 1871, on to Coleman County, Texas about 1877. Mary Jane's parents names were William and Susanna (Driver) Borders. Mary Jane and Harmon or H.D. had Willam, Jesse, Mary E., Martha or Mattie, Taylor, James, Nancy, Franklin, John, Harmon, Thomas who died at age 1 1/2 years of age. Most of the family goes by Elkin, my husbands father, John, had a curlique on the end of the n and it became an s some time in the past years. I have the family record of H. D. and wife that was taken from the Union Hand Book published by the Cincinnati Weekly times in 1870. We have no record of Harmon (H.D.) family. The only thing we know is he came from Va. Left the family when he was quite young and as far as we know never had contact with any of them again. If any one can help, please contact me. I will share any information that I have. Thanks
