John William Eleazer, 83, Lake Placid, died Sunday, March 4, 2007, at Lake Placid, Fla.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Naples Funeral Home with the Rev. Harold Brown officiating.

The remains are to be cremated.

Billie Eleazer is in charge of arrangements.

John William Eleazer, age 83, passed away peacefully albeit suddenly at home on Sunday, March 4, 2007. He was born in Clarksville, on Nov. 3, 1923. As a young man he moved his family to Flint, Mich., where he worked and retired from General Motors after 30 years as a journeyman Tool and Dye Repairman.

John (known by family and friends as Jay) was an avid outdoorsman, hunter, fisherman, and private pilot. He was a trusted friend, devoted husband, wonderful father and dedicated Christian.

He was volunteer church musician, long-term member of Baracca Men's Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church, Clarksville, Tenn., and 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason.

He taught flying for over 20 years to countless students, and after retiring in 1975, traveled with his wife throughout the United States. John and Billie settled in Naples, Fla., in 1983, and moved to Lake Placid in 2005.

He is survived by his bride of 62 years, Billie Ruth Baldwin Eleazer of Lake Placid, Fla.; daughter Kathy Eleazer Fee of Lake Placid, Fla.; sons John Eleazer of Summerville, S.C.; and Alan Eleazer of Knoxville; son-in-law Kenneth Fee; daughters-in-law, Robin and Vicki Eleazer; grandchildren, Michelle Eleazer Smith of Summerville, S.C.; Carrie Eleazer Rodgers of Winter Haven, Fla.; Joshua Eleazer of Orlando, Fla.; David Eleazer of Knoxville; great grandchildren Eric and Travis Smith, and Sydney Rodgers, and special friends Dale and Lue Hunt of Naples, Fla.
