I am also researching families with a connection to the Eldridges that seem to have moved to Wisconsin and then returned to western NY. William H Lane was 21 (b abt 1859 in Wisconsin) and listed as stepson in the 1880 US Census of Victor, Ontario NY, living with head of house Amos, wife Sarah and daughters Flora and Ada C Eldridge.

Also have Jesse C Lane living with the same people in the 1875 NY State Census, and in the 1870 US Census of Canandaigua, Ontario NY, aged 6 (b. about 1864) living with Lizzie (Elizabeth?) Lane aged 35 (b. about 1835) who is a domestic in the home of Charles Johnson. An incomplete record of Marriages in Manhattan in 1889 lists Daniel B Lane and Elizabeth Root as Jesse's parents.

Chauncey (b.1813) and Thankful (b. 1812) Root of Canandaigua have a daughter, Sarah E (b. 1835) who I believe is Sarah Eldridge, wife of Amos and could be Elizabeth (Root) Lane, wife of Daniel Lane of Wisconsin.

I am seeking info to determine whether Sarah Eldridge[Eldred] was married first to Daniel B Lane. Any other information about the Lanes of Ontario county regarding ties to Wisconsin would also be appreciated.
