William Elder, b.1762 Edinburgh Scotland, d.1830 Westmoreland PA, is as far back as I've been able to trace my Elder line.

I have no info on any siblings or parents of his. As far as I know, he married an Elizabeth McManus who was born in NJ, and all his children were born here in the US.

Does anyone here have any experience/tips for trying to find records/info from 1700s Scotland? Or have I hit a brick wall here?
