I came across your exchanges this morning regarding the Elarton family tree, Pastor Elarton.

My branch of the Elarton tree is Ellerton. Some time in 1800's, the Elarton name began to change to Elerton and Ellerton, at times within the same family. In fact, I found one instance where the name evolved into Ellington, when Richard Ellerton (1790-1853 ), son of Joseph Elarton (1750-1821), changed the spelling when he moved to Tennessee.

If my research is correct, we share a common Grandfather, William J. Elarton (1773-1859). William is my Great-great-great-great Grandfather.

William and his spouse, Sarah Phillips (1780-1869) had a large family, which included two sons, John (1797-1864) and Samuel (1808-1884).

According to my work, John is your Grandfather many times over: Nathan; Lynn W (1939- ); Earl (1915-1988); William (or "Willie" (1886-1985)); Hiram (1859-1940); William (1831-1913).

Samuel is my Great-great-great Grandfather.

I have identified another branch of the Elarton Family Tree and traced it to present-day California, but have not reached out to its members just yet. I have also followed another branch of the Elarton/ Ellerton Family to present-day Virginia. In fact, I have contacted a distant cousin and am exchanging information.

If you are still working on your branch of the family tree and would like to communicate, please feel free to contact me:
