People who research the line of Gilbert Elam and Susannah (very likely Cannon) give the date of birth of their supposedly first child, a son, William Cannon Elam, as about 1765. I am not sure if this is any more than a guess on their part. They give his date of death as 9 July 1855 in Caney, Morgan Co., Kentucky. I have not tried to verify this, but could not find him in the 1850 census to see what age he was listed as.
