Married Bruce Ela, son of Robert Bllazo Ela, son of Robert and Ruth Ela. You two must be cousins. Went to an Ela Martin family reunion about twelve years ago in Maine. The reunion was held on or near the family homestead. Will try to remember and or find out more. Contact bela50@aol.com or dlakelee@aol.com

Joan I am still checking out the changing of the Blazo name. I have been inquiring from relatives because I can not locate any documented proof that the name was changed even though it appears to be. I hope all is well with you and hopefully I will be able to locate some information on this name change. Keep in touch - I will try to answer more promptly next time. I will keep you posted on my research

My mother was an Ela and I am currently working on the Ela geneology. If I come across the name you are looking for, I will let you know. I have been told that there is only one Ela line, so the chances are very good I will locate something. I don't know of any relatives in that area of the USA but anything is possible. I will keep you posted

I am also researching the Ela family. My line is John Ela b. abt 1806 in NH (probably Conway); wife Jane Solleff. They had at least twelve children and raised them in Fryeburg ME. Their male children include Barnard b. abt. 1832 in NH, Phillp b. abt. 1842 in ME and Webster b. abt. 1846 in ME. I would be happy to compare notes with others working on this line.

Would love to share notes. I am not at home at the moment, but I will check my papers and see if I come up with anything on this name. I understand that there is only really 1 Ela line and that we are all related. I have a book that I have not been able to get thru yet with the Ela ancestry in it. Will get back with you on your name

Parents resided in Lebanon NH. His parents John Ela b. 7/6/1802 Hartford VT, m. Julia Demarry 1827. John and Julia had the following children: Cynthia A, b. 1828; John H, b. 1829 removed to Wisconsin; George W, b. 1831;Abbie E, b. 1833;Charles N, b. 1836 served Union Army; Benjamin, b. 1838; William H, b. 1843; Albert B, b. 1845.

Line traces to Israel Ela, emigrant to Haverhill MA.
If you're near either NEHGS in Boston or Sutro library in San Francisco I believe both have a copy of this book.
