Howdy fellow Ekers!
I was into the genealogy stuff a few years back. It was mentioned that Debbie Crister has an 'Ekers' family book. It's true! I have one. I have since lost the time to research the family name since my wife and I started a family about 6 years ago. Anyway, I thought it might be interesting to some to know there are two unique sets of Ekers out there (unless new info came out in the last 4 years or so). There is a Ron Ekers who lives in Australia who also is into genealogy. He claims 'his' Ekers are from a region in England (Essex, which is in the southwest section). Several of his family members still reside in England while some have moved to Canada. We tried to link our families, but I could not get us back to Ireland, much less England. Does anyone have any info that links our Ekers back to Ireland and the region from which we came? When I lived outside D.C., I spent some time at the national archives and found Lewis Ekiss and his family in the 1850 census (I think John was 2 about then). Then in the 1870 census, there was John Ekers in Cattletsburg, KY (but no Lewis). OK, I'm done babbling. Oh, I now live in Wadsworth, Ohio (suburb of Akron). I'd love to hear from my family!
