Frip was born at Racine, Wisconsin September 3,1904 to E.P. and Hannah Ekegren. He moved to Harlem in 1909. he attended Harlem schools and graduated in 1923. He went to mortician school in Chicago, Illinois. He married Audrey Urquhart. In high school he was a star athlete and his life was devoted to sports and civic projects. He was the mayor of Harlem from 1951 to 1957. Plans for graveling and oiling the main street of Harlem and cleaning and graveling the alleys were done in his term. He was elected county commissioner in November 1962. His last letter was to Governor Tim Babcock regarding the Harlem by-pass. His wife died in 1956 and Frip died in a Havre Hospital on October 15,1963.
