Hi there all, Please bear with me as I'm new to this. My grandfather is I think John CB Eke who was born in East Dereham,Norfolk. His father was also John(1844) and mother Sarah(1845). John CB disappears by the time of the 1901 census. Could anyone who has a 'lost' relative i.e. John CB,please advise as this could be my grandfather who came to Singapore possibly after 1902? I only found out a few days ago that my Humphries grandfather wasn't my real grandfather, but John Eke was. That would explain why my Father's son was called Charles Henry Eke and ny father Cuthbert Brighton Humphries. When in fact he was an Eke. So my grandmother has married twice. Her maiden name was Maria Van Der Beck. This all happened in Singapore after approx 1904. I'm guessing

hi,

i realise that you posted this msg a few years back, but i do think we are related. My maternal grandfather is Charles Henry Eke who got married in singapore to a singaporean who then produced a daughter Charlotte Henrietta Eke who is my mother. I do not know who my grandfather's parents were but I have pictures of a Maria Ida Van Der Beck's grave. So this cant just be a mere coincidence. My name by the way is Charlotte Goh and I am writing from Singapore.

Please reply if you have any information, we will be glad to provide you with a scan of the grave and a picture of Charles Henry Eke and the other bits and pieces we have.

Regards,

Charlotte

Hi,
Just picked up your message, and I can definitely say that you are my blood relative, however we do come down different lines. I can trace your great grandparents who were Charles John Brighton Eke and Maria Van Der Beck back through seven generations of the Eke line to William Eke born 1655 who was married to Martha. William died in 1705 in East Dereham, Norfolk, England, which is also where your great grandfather Charles John Brighton Eke was born in1885.
I only live six miles from East Dereham and my maiden name was Eke. If you would like to exchange any information, I would look forward to hearing from you.
Regards
Christine
