Hi George

You were kind enough to reply to my last post, and I now have some new names - namely Robert James Eke, b Oct 1849 in Hindolveston. Siblings: Sarah, William, Julius and Anna. His parents were James b 1825 in Norfolk and Lucy Sands b 1830 Hindolveston. His parents were James b 1797 in Guestwick and Hannah (Unknown) b 1796 Boultham. The James b in 1825 had a brother William b 1822 and sister Hannah b 1821. If any of these tie up with any of yours I would love to hear from you! Best wishes Jane

Hi, Jane,
Sorry to take so long - it's been a busy period!
I can't find these people in my tree, but they have to fit there somewhere, as my direct line came from Hindolveston. The Eke line is very large, and it is probable that I have missed connections somewhere. I already have several hundred of them, but still keep finding more! Have you got any more connections to these folk?
We are dropping our Ancestry.co.uk subscription on 5 March for the present, but I seem to recall that we can still get into this chat. You can contact me directly on conical@bordernet.com.au.
Cheers, George.
Cheers, George

Eke's of Wood Dalling Norfolk

Hi George,
I have just come across this Thread after being directed by a Family Tree Circles member.
My wife's family of Eke's can trace themselves back to Joseph Eke marrying Hannah Hobbs on the 29/10/1800 in Wood Dalling Norfolk.
Is this any connection to your tree ?
David

All of the Ekes are related back to a common ancestor, William Eke of 1660, it seems. But there are a number of branches I do not have in detail and this is one of them. All that I have is on our tree on Genes Reunited - if you want to contact me through there I can give you permission to view it, or alternatively I can send you a GEDCOM file or genealogy report via this board.
Cheers, George

A GEDCOM file would be great George, if you could send it to dgmason@optusnet.com.au it would be greatly appreciated.
My tree is also available on the genesreunited site, I will try and find you on that site and make it available to you.

Have only just picked up your query on Elizabeth Eke. Ihave her born in Weasenham St Peter, Norfolk in 1822. I do not know her second name but she had a sister named Anne, also a brother Henry Thomas born 1834,my ancestor. Their father was William married to Martha, but their g grandfather was Peter born 1740 in Wooddalling. Hope this might be of help.Should you have any more info on Ekes in Weasenham or nearby S.Creake I would be delighted to hear from you.

Dear Jane, My great-grandfather,Theobald Eke, was also living in Chelsea at around 1900, having been formerly from the Eke family of Binham,Norfolk. My grandfather,Thomas Flood Eke (descended from Esther Flood ),was born in Chelsea, and my mother, Amy Doreen Eke, in Fulham (1924). Thomas was run over & killed in 1925, so neither I nor mum knew him !! Roger Mills, Henley-on-Thames ( b. 1947 )
