My ex-wife's family has Ekdahl's from Moline, IL so I was searching on behalf of my son's heritage and found a reference to what I believe is your Harold G. Ekdahl. Here's the obit from an apparent ex-wife of his.

Betty J. Ekdahl, 92, former 50-year resident of Moline, died Jan. 5, 2000, at a nursing home in Riverside, Calif.
Private graveside services will be held in Riverside Cemetery, Moline, followed by a memorial service at 2 p.m. Saturday at Calvary Lutheran Church, Moline. Memorials to Alzheimer's Disease and Related Disorders Association, 919 N. Michigan Ave., Suite 1100, Chicago, Ill. 60611 or to a charity of choice.
Esterdahl Mortuary, Moline, is in charge of local arrangements.
The former Elizabeth Ogren was born Dec. 26, 1907, in Grand Meadow Township, Cherokee County, Iowa, the daughter of Swedish immigrants Augusta Nelson and John Ogren. She graduated from Cherokee High School and married Harold G. Ekdahl of Moline. Early in her marriage she worked for Frank Foundry of Moline, but for most of her life she was a homemaker. Mr. Ekdahl for many years was an organizer with the Sheet Metal Workers Union.
Mrs. Ekdahl was active in PTA organizations in Moline and with Calvary Lutheran Church of Moline, where she was church treasurer.
He died in 1978 and Mrs. Ekdahl later moved to California to be near her daughters and their families.
Surviving are daughters, Marilyn Ekdahl Ravicz, Palm Springs, Calif., and Carolyn Ekdahl Wylie, Riverside, Calif.; a brother, Paul Ogren, Marus, Iowa; grandchildren, Richard Ravicz, Los Angeles, Tanyo Ravicz, Palm Desert, Calif., Simone Ghysels, Pacific Palisades, Calif., Adam Ekdahl Wylie, Riverside, and Victoria Wylie, Sherman Oaks, Calif.; and four great-grandchildren.
