My father, Stanley L. Ejzak, born in Pittsburgh April 11 1916.
He had employment troubles, got black listed and removed the "z" from Ejzak to get a job, proir to his second marrage to Mary K. Nassar in 1959. My sister Suzanne L. Ejak was born July 14, 1960 and I, James M. Ejak Sept. 7, 1961 in Connellsville, PA. We all moved to Detroit area in 1968 for his employment at Pontiac Motor Division. He died of cancer, Feb 9, 1977. We still live in Michigan.
I travel on the job and about 10 years ago, I visited company, Holocrome, Danaher Tool Group, in Hartford, Conn. There, the security guard, an elderly man recognized my name and told me that he married an Ejak but she had a "z" in her maiden name.He placed a call to her and she thought my father may be her cousin?
Since then, my sister found an Ejzak living in Livonia, MI and spoke with him, but no immediate family connection was made. He did advise her of the bulk of Ejzak's residing in Harford or Pittsburgh area.
We never knew much else.It was when when he deid that we basically learned of the proper, Ejzak name. At 15 years old, I just disregarded it and we all went on with Ejak in fear of potential identities problems.
My dad always considered himself, Prussian. He talked of his father, born approx 1865 migrating from Prussia I think in the late 1890's to Pittsburgh. He was the youngest of approx. 12 kids. He was the black sheep, I guess, since we never had any knowledge or contact from anyone in or from his family. When he died, a brother (I believe Frank) and sister came to Pontiac afterwards to meet us.
I always wondered about the Ejzak tree, as well as the real location of the root.

Surnames: Ejzak, Azok
Hi. I stumbled upon this web link...my married name is Azok...supposedly my husband's great grandfather migrated to the US from Poland and changed the spelling of Ejzak to Azok for easier pronunciation. We all live in the Lorain, OH area, which is 30 mi. west of Cleveland. Are there any connections? My husband's name is Franklin, his father's name is Franklin, his grandfather's name was Frank, but I do not know the great grandfather's first name. His grandfather Frank was born around 1910. Email back if you know any connection between the Ejzak's from Poland and the Azok's in our Ohio area. Thanks so much.

They have had 13 children: triples who died after aprox. one month from birth; Frank (Franciszek) born 1916 +2006 - he emigrated to US in 1940-50; Bolesław +1990 lived in Kutno PL; John (Jan) live in Czarnia; Roch; Konstanty; Władysława, who died in age of 23 because of putrid fever; Róża (Rose); Leoakadia; Maria; and my gradfather Lucjan Ejzak born in Czarnia in 1933.
If You know names of parents of John and Rozalia I would be greatfull if someone will give me this information.
In 1800's Czarnia was situated in Prussish annexation,so mayby our families are connected somehowe.

Mary and Paul Ejzak were my grandparents--although I never met them since they died before I was born. I am the daughter of Joseph Ejzak, Mary and Paul Ejzak's son. All of my aunts and uncles are deceased now, but my mother is still living. My father died in 1964 from his fourth heart attack at age 51. I knew my father's siblings---Rose, Anne, Frank, Jack, Cecilia (Sr. Lauraine), Helen, and Stanley. I remember visiting Sr. Martha with my parents when she was at Holy Family Institute in Emsworth. I believe it was an orphanage at the time.

It sounds like you & I are cousins. I am a Son of your Father's brother Stanley, from what I've recently learned would have been his 3rd marriage, where he had at sometime mysteriously removed the "z" and was identifying himself as Ejak, which therefore is my name. (see my 2004 post)
My research initially started to learn the true root of the Ejzak name, as there was controversy to regions of Poland v what was Prussa, to potentially Russia? Definitively, I still don't know, but certainly there's a big cultural difference.
In the meantime, it also became interesting for me to learn more of exactly when his name change occurred and why, other than speculation.

interesting, since my father dropped the "z" I never the true
native pronunciation, but the Prussian region (German's) would probably agree with "A" for the Ej and either zok
or more likely sok to follow.
None the less, with a name so rare, a relation is always possible without going back too many generations??
Crazy as it may sound, at 50 now, I'm thinking of putting the "z' back in for authenticity. Any comment welcome!
