I am researching John Eilbeck (son of George Eilbeck and Barbara Graves)on behalf of my Wife's Step Father (grandson of subject matter).
The folklore is that he died in South Africa, possibly in a mining accident, however can not find any proof or other evidence. I have a John returning from SA in 1909 and 1912 which I assume is home from there on leave, he married Mary Agnes Carson in 1910 and she remarried in 1917. There appears to have been, for want of a better term, a falling out as John was not talked about in the family.
Be grateful if anyone has any info that may be relevant.
