Stephen (son of Johann and Ellen Pabst) reportedly worked as a wine taster and (probably a cooper as well), in Baden. He immigrated from Baden in 1850, with wife Johanna Bower/Bauer and children Magdalena (Lena) and Gustavus. He owned a cooper shop on Champney St for many years, raising 11 more children in South Boston. His surviving children with associated surnames were: Magdalena (Lena) Eifler Buttner, Gustavus, Andrew, Margaret Eifler Emery,Gabriel, Johanna Eifler Westhoff, Agnes Eifler Tomilson Griffith, and Annie Eifler Brady Boudwin.
