Still looking for any information on Lars Eide, born 27 Feb 1839 in Norway, died 1 Sep 1931 in Story County, Iowa. Family lore has Lars and 2 brothers coming to the US to avoid the draft in Norway. A 4th brother joined them after they settled in the US. I believe their surname was originally Larson(Larsen?). When they came to America they were taken to a "camp" in upper New York and there were so many Larsons that 2 of the brothers changed their surname to Eide, which apparantly was the province they came from in Norway. There is still family in the Brainard area of Minnesota and central Iowa. Lars was married to Marie Martinsdatter Dyrnes(not 100% sure this is an accurate name), who died possibly in Minnesota. He then married Karie Larson. His children were Lars Lewis Eide, Martin Eide, Peter John Larson Eide and Anna Bertina Eide Handeland. The executors of his will were his son, Peter, and his best friend, Ole Brandeland. If any of this sounds familiar to anyone, I would sure appreciate hearing from you. Thanks!
