Hi Christina,
I don't know if we have been in touch before or not. I am researching my niece's family. Her roots go back to John Eibert born ~1868 in Ohio (maybe Penn). He was orphaned at a young age and on the 1870 census is living with his grandfather, George Eibert in Tuscarawas County, Ohio. I think Emma Eibert is his sister. I have a copy of George Eibert's obituary (born 1865 -- grandson of George Eibert) -- it says he was orphaned at age 3, and was raised by his uncle Valentine Eibert. His siblings are listed as John Eibert, Emma Mauch, and Elizabeth Kramer. (I don't have the obituary in front of me but I do have it on the family tree.)
I have searched and searched for the parents of these children. I think I may have come up with a lead. The familyesearch.org web site has Ohio Births and christenings, marriage records, and deaths. I found a Philipp Eibert married to Elizabeth Shrag on 14 June 1858 in Tuscarawas County. There is also a born record for a male Eibert on 13 March 1868 in New Philadelphia, Tuscarawas County. Father's name is Philip Eibert, mother's name just says Eibert. This birth record could fit the John Eibert I am researching.
There is also a death record for a Mrs. Phil Ibert on 1 May 1868 in New Philadelphia, Tuscarawas. She was born in Europe, a housewife, and married. I could not find a death record for Phillip Eibert or birth records for the other children. A little more searching may turn those up.
I don't know for sure but I am beginning to suspect that Phillip Eibert and Elizabeth Shrag were the parents of Emma M Eibert born 1863, Elizabeth born 1864, George born 1865, and John born 1868. The timeframe and place fits.
Do you have any new information. Do you think I may be on the right track??
Thanks. Kathy Vacek
