Karen,
I have been doing more research on the Eiberger's I am writing to a Catholic church in Chicago where I do know that some of my Eiberger's worshipped. I had been told from a family member from the other side of the family about this church. I also found that my own great grandmother had gone by a middle name or maybe her first name meaning that she used both names Frances and Marie.
I have been discovering many things, I was in touch with Ethlyn Eiberger who was married to George who was a cousin of ours. She also gave in sight on where else to look for info. Where are you located, so I can try to match some data for you.

Lois,

I happened across your e-mail note by chance this eve and thought I'd return a note.

I am from northwest Indiana (at present), by way of Nebraska (where I grew up), where my father (from Northwest Missouri) settled after World War II. I have done a fairly extensive geneology search, although nothing over the past 8-9 years.

Three brothers left Baden-Wurrtemburg in 1865 routing through Hamburg to New York City. There names can be found on the Hamburg passenger lists of Germans emmigrating to New York city in 1865. They traveled further west to Chicago within the approximate next 5 years. As best can be determined, one of them stayed in Illinois, settling in the Morris, DePue, Princeton Illinois area. There are an approximate 6-7 households bearing the Eiberger name within that community. Two of the brothers traveled further west to Missouri, where the largest clan of Eibergers in the United States reside.

There are Eibergers who settled at different times in Wisconsin, California, Atlanta, Florida and Denver. As best I can tell, these other clans were the result of cousins of these three brothers who emmigrated at different times.

In 1987 I was in Germany and stumbled across the village of Eiberg, a small (three house only) village, near Nuremberg. Slightly larger communities near this site are Ellenberg, Dinkelsbuhl (and Nuremberg). The Catholic church in Ellensberg has a small memorial site of two Eibergers who died in the German army during world war II. The Catholic cemetary in DePue, Ilinois has graves of two Eibergers who died in Germany and Ausria, while in the army and airforce of the United States (during the same 2nd world war).

If you need further information, please be in touch.

Hello,
Yes I would like more info if possible. My research has turned up very little. My great grandmother was France Marie Eiberger. I do not know as of yet who her parents were. She was born in New York according to my grandmother's birth certificate. I have been unable to find out any other info on her except that she was married 2 times before she married my great grandfather. there is a strong possiblity she had other children by those marriages. She settled for a time in Wisconsin with my great grandfather. My grandmother had
a cousin Jeannette Eiberger Boston that lived in Evanston Illinois. A cousin Anna Eiberger Olsen that lived in Chicago.
We have tracked down Ethylynn Eiberger that is related and lives in Wisconsin. As far as I can tell my grandmother's Aunt Elsie was married to George Eiberger- they divorced and George moved to Chicago for a time then off somewhere else.
My grandmother often talked about Uncle Carl who was in the war- and was shell shocked. There was another that lived on skid row in Chicago. We have some pictures of Joseph Eiberger and his wife Anna, Carl and his wife, Joe jr and his wife. There are a few more but I can't remember names at this time. The Eiberger's are related to the Proesel's, Helen Proesel who was a cousin was to give my grandmother pictures of family but my grandmother died before Helen and when Helen died my mom never received the pictures. I have seen where my great grandmother was buried, but very little info is on record. Except that she died of Hydroencephlamalaria. Which is contracted out of the states.
I was told by Ethylynn Eiberger that there was a Doctor Eiberger who used to be in touch with her, but she had no address or anything. Anything you have would be of help!
I have been in touch with Jeff EIberger, he sent me some info on his side of the Eiberger Clan. I was unable to connect with the info he sent except that a story there were 3 brothers. One asked for some money form another and none was sent and there was never any more contact. My great grandmother was 40 when she had my grandmother and that was in 1911
so she would have been born in 1871 or about. I plan to go back to Chicago in a week and research more.
Please contact me at: yoshi@dellsnet.com
Thank you so much for contacting me.
