Surnames: Ehman Ehmann
I have a little more information on the Ehmann I am looking for. Benedict Ehmann, b. July 1833 or 1834 in Wurttemberg, d. 1924 in Shawnee, OK. Came to U.S. in 1866 with wife Caroline (no further info), and daughter Carrie, b. about 1864 in England. Two more children born in MA: Bertha Ehman, b. 1870 in Boston, MA, and George Ehman, b. about 1875, somewhere in MA. Next found in Independence, Washington county, TX, with these children and another wife, Eliza (may be Ada Deiss). Two more children born in TX: Richard Benedict Ehman, b. 2 Jun 1880, d. 8 Nov 1970 in Wharton county, TX, and Rosa Lee Ehmann, b. 25 Mar 1882, d. 30 Sep 1961 in OK. In 1892, Benedict divorced Elizabeth Ehman in Brown county, TX, retaining custody of the children. He is next found in the 1900 census of St. Louis, MO, where he is working as a dyer. Also found him in a city directory for St. Louis in 1905 working as a dye cleaner for American Dye Works. Came to Shawnee, OK, during the depression where he died in 1924. Would like to find more on Benedict and/or locate other descendents who may know more than we do.
