Gretchen - What I have posted here is just about everything I have. I have been hopeful of hearing from someone who history of Benedict Ehmann dating further back but have never had any contact. There were rumors that he had changed his name because of having switched sides, fighting for Germans then the French, or some such. There were also rumors that he was a Swiss Guard to the Pope but I wrote the Svizzera Pontifica and received a reply that he was not found in their records. Could be under a different name. There were a couple more children I found. One was an Edward Ehmann and it appears he was left behind in an institution when Benedict moved the family moved to Texas. He had a seizure disorder of some kind. There was also another daughter, Elieser, born very soon after their arrival in the US and her birth record shows his name as John Ehmann so I expect he was Johann Benedict Ehmann. I did not find anything more on her. That's pretty much it.

I have since unstalled my family tree software due to numerous upgrades to software over the 9 years, but I can reinstall it and pull what information I have for you. I think most of it is on this website. Sorry I don't have more as of yet.
