Sorry, her name was Agnes Keresztes, not Kunkles. That was my father-in-law's mother's last name from Lithuania.

Also, I was wrong about Szkotak spelling. It has no c before the z. I was writing off the top of my head and had not done much on this part for awhile. I should know better than to do that!

My mother-in-law came here from Hungary in 1912. Her parents were Julius (Gyula) Egyed, Agnes Kunkles Egyed, and her brother Julius (Gyula), along with herself, Hermina. She is 102 years old and still going strong. Her half-brothers and sister also came their name was Sczkotak, Janos (John), Vilmos (William) and Gizella. Do you have any of those names on your list? I have their ships manifest records, and such.

Is Egyed your birth name or married name? Though it is not a common name here in the USA, in Hungary it is more common. So don't expect every one here with that surname to be a relative. It seems that a large number of Hungarians came at the turn of the century and many went to Pennsylvania. There is also a town in Hungary called "Egyed". I don't know if the name came form the town or if the town was named after a person.
If you have any names that you are interested in, I can look in my data base to see if there are any matches.

Yes,I am a Egyed by birth. My Egyed (Jozsef) ancester came to the USA in 1905 and his wife (Erzsebet) in 1906. They lived in Berwick PA for awhile, finally settling in Hammond, IN. Jozsef was born 12-29-1879 in Kisfalud Hungary. His siblings included Anna, Gizella, Gabor, and Lajos. Gabor came to the USA in 1911. 2 of Erzsebet's sisters (Maria and Terezia) came to the USA with Jozsef in 1905. Also 2 of Jozsef's cousins (Terez Gyormate and Gizella Rampos) came to the USA in 1907.
I looked in my data base but don't find any Sophia.

My grandfather was an Egyed. I have also seen the family name spelled Egyet. The names that you had listed are not familiar. My family was from Apatin, Austria- Hungary and my great grandfather first came to the United States around 1907. He also had at least two brothers and a sister who also came to the United States and settled in Michigan. Do you have any connection to this family?
