Attention AGNEW to EGNEW researchers

Surnames: Egnew, Agnew, Mc Carty, Ramsey, Ramsay
I am an Egnew researcher who has been researching my family history for over 30 years. I can trace my line back to James and Isaac Egnew circa 1777-1786 In Fayette or Westmoreland Counties of Pennsylvania (then on to Bourbon/Harrison County, Kentucky).

I have seen dozens of "researchers" who have trees that "merged" this James Egnew into James Agnew who was married to Mary Ramsey. I urge all of you to actually do a little research into this. I can assure you that this is totally impossible. James Agnew/Mary Ramsey's children were well documented. (Agnew family bible, a will and other sources)
The dates and places of births and deaths of James Egnew,Isaac and his siblings in NO WAY match up to anything concerning James Agnew/Mary Ramsey.

I urge you to search Ancestry.com for "James Agnew". There is a publication titled: "Our pioneer ancestors : being a record of available information as to the Riggs, Baldridge, Agnew, Earle, Kirkpatrick, Vreeland"
Go to page 118 in Chapter Nine "The American Families of Agnew, Scott, and Ramsay". It tells the wonderful story of James Agnew and Mary Ramsey.

We Egnew's would love nothing better than to be able to link ourselves with the Agnew family. We know the link exists....but we can not FORCE that link. I will be taking a DNA test this year in hopes of matching up with some of the Agnew clan. To my knowledge, no other EGNEW has done this as of yet.

I am not a professional genealogist, but I do have some common sense and a lot of experience. I urge anyone who can actually PROVE a relationship between James Egnew and James Agnew to come forward and let us finally put this nonsense to end...one way or the other.

I do have one last suggestion. I think another way to break through this wall would be to dive into the Mc Carty family. I have only done some limited research myself on the Mc Carty family, but my research suggests they were also from Fayette/Westmoreland County, PA and migrated to Bourbon/Harrison County, KY. We do know that Isaac Egnew was married to Margaret Mc Carty.

I appreciate your comments and suggestions. I can be reached here or at johnegnew@aol.com
