December 15, 1925 (Tuesday). AGED WOMAN ANSWERS FINAL DEATH SUMMONS. MRS. CATHERINE SCHIMMOELLER PASSES AWAY AT HOME OF DAUGTHER, MRS. MATHIAS SUEVER, TUESDAY MORNING AT 10:30 O’CLOCK – WAS EIGHTY NINE YEARS, TWO MONTHS AND FIFTEEN DAYS OF AGE – FUNERAL ARRANGEMENTS NOT MADE. ---
At the advanced age of eighty-nine years, two months and fifteen days, Mrs. Catherine Schimmoeller, answered the final summons of death at the home of her daugher, Mrs. Mathias Suever, of near Landeck Tuesday morning at 10:30 o’clock. Infirmities due to old age were named as the cause of death.
The deceased woman was born to Mr. and Mrs. John Egbers, in Holland. September 29, 1836. She came to this country at the age of seven years and made her home in Cincinnati during the early portion of her life and while in that city received her education under Hellebusch, composer of numerous German songs. From Cincinnati, she went to Glandorf, where she was married at the age of seventeen years to Joseph Schimmoeller. To this union, thirteen children were born. During one year of their married life, they resided in Fort Jennings and from that place moved on a farm near Landeck where Mrs. Schimmoeller made her home until last September when it became necessary on account of her age to live with her daughter, Mrs. Mathias Suever. The deceased was the first settler in the vicinity of Landeck.
Prior to her death, Mrs. Schimmoeller was bedfast since September, owing to the feebleness of old age.
She is survived by five children, her husband and eight children having preceded her in death. Surviving are Mrs. Kate Gengler, of Coldwater, Ohio; John Schimmoeller, of Grape, Ark.; Mrs. Matilda Burn, of Dayton; Louis Schimmoeller and Mrs. Mathias Suever, of Landeck. Surviving are also twenty-eight grandchildren and thirty-two great grandchildren.
Mrs. Schimmoeller was a member of the Roman Catholic church, the Altar Society and the Sacred Heart League.
No definite arrangements have been made concerning the funeral.
